Fighting Blight, Right
Renewal Homes was the project that that proved the critics wrong. It is possible to sensitively rehabilitate single-family and two-family homes at a significant scale. Forty-six formerly-blighted, historic homes in the Central City and Carrollton neighborhoods of New Orleans were renovated with the goals of sustainability, affordability, and appropriate historic rehabilitation. And thanks to a partnership with the State of Louisiana, all of the homes are reserved exclusively as Permanent Supportive Housing.
